Abstract

322,048. Redmayne, G. Oct. 13, 1928. Devices for filling storage batteries with electrolyte.-In order to prevent one or more hattery cells from being overfilled with electrolyte, the filling opening 5 is made sufficiently small to prevent further flow of electrolyte when the latter enters a tube 3. A trough 6 provided with apertures leading into the cells may extend over a number of cells as shown in Fig. 2. The trough is open at one end 7 into which the electrolyte is poured. A syphon or discharge tap 11 is provided for emptying the trough 6 when all the cells have been filled. The openings 5 may be surrounded by internal flanges 8, 10 as shown in Fig. 3 to prevent electrical leakage.
