321,652. Smith, G. Aug. 10, 1928. Amusement apparatus; controlling stopping-positions of rotating discs; prize-delivering mechanism. - Relates to amusement apparatus of the kind in which one or more discs bearing pictures or names are rotated by coin-released mechanism and, according to the position in which they stop, control the release of prize-delivering slides. According to the invention, a single disc a, Figs. 2 and 3, is mounted on a spindle b carrying a drum u which is provided with V-shaped teeth w and slob v of varying length. After the insertion of a coin, a shaft 9 is freed for rotation by an outside knob and a cam o thereon rocks a frame s to lift a rod k, the sudden return of which under the action of a spring p rotates the spindle b by means of a pawl I engaging a ratchet wheel g on the spindle. The rod k also lifts a rocking frame x to disengage a roller y from the teeth w, the frame x being held in this position by a detent 4 which is connected by a rod 7 to the plunger of a dash-pot. The plunger 5 is raised by an arm r<1> of the rocking frame s, and, when it is returned after a time interval by a. spring 8, the detent 4 is released to allow the. roller y to stop the drum 11 and disc a. The detent 4 may also be manually operated to stop the disc by a rod or wire extending to the front of the apparatus'. If the drum 11 stops' with a slot c opposite pins 52, 53, 54, Fig. 3. of different on a selector lever 35 pivoted at 49, one os more of the pins enter the slot acording to its length and the lever 35 turns through an angle depending on the number of pins entering the slot. A lever 55 depending from the lever 35 is thereby depressed through one of three distances and comes into position to withdraw one or more of three prize-delivering slides 30, 38, 39, at the name time actuating a lever 47 to release the slides to be withdrawn. The slides have holes to transfer coins from a prize-magazine 28 to a deliverv shoot. The slides that are released are not withdrawn to deliver the prizes until the next actuation of the machine, when a cam 15 on the 9 9 presses back a lever 22. connected by a link 59 to the withdrawing rod 55, a pin 27 on the cam first releasing a depending ]ever 25 which blocks' movement of the slides. The lever 25 is connected by a spring 24 to the lev'Þr 22, and is also connected to a lever S3 having a pin 34 to prevent movement of the selector lever 35 until the shaft 9 is rotated. In a modification, three vertical levers have each a pin to engage the slots v in the drum and are connected at their lower ends to the delivery slides. Coin action, weight.-A oin inserted through a shoot 16 drops to a swinging shoot 17 and rests on a pin 19 extending from a lever 20, thereby 'v tilting the lever 20 out of engagement with a stop 12 on the shaft 9. Coin-discharging mechanism.-The shoot 17 is connected by a rod to the lever 22 and is swung by the actuation of this lever to discharge the coin into the prize-magazine 28. When the magazine is filled, surplus coins are pushed into a money-box by a sliding rod 50 actuated by the lever 22. Returning coin.-Should the drum it stop so that a blade 60 on a selector lever 36 enters a notch v, the movement of the lever 36 through a link 63 moves a plate 6,1 to 'divert the coin in the shoot 17 to a return shoot. Coin-slit c!o.!;H.g-<!et!:'c<'s.-The shoot 16 is closed, when the machine is being operated, by a rod 65 connected to the rocking frame x.
