Books, folding models, and paper and like toys. -Collapsable models, toys, &c., arranged with a book and connected thereto so that they are erected automatically when the book is opened, and are folded flat when the book is closed, are formed of sheets or parts with plane or uninterrupted surfaces connected by folding-creases which enable the parts to assume their correct relative positions upon the opening and closing of the book. Fig. 4 shows the model of a house arranged at the fold of a book, the side walls a <4>, a<5> being hingedly connected to base flaps a<14>, a<15> secured to the adjacent pages b. The end walls and roof sections are provided with folds or creases so that they fold upon themselves when the model is collapsed. In a modification, Fig. 5, models a<1>, a<2> are disposed upon adjacent pages and secured thereto by hinge-flaps b<1>, c<4> at the bottoms of their outer walls a<4>, a<7>, their respective inner walls a<5>, c<6>, being connected together by a foldable strip c. Alternatively, a model hinged upon one page may be connected directly to the adjacent page of a foldable strip which effects the erection of the model when the book is opened. An animated effect is produced by a model comprising co-operating pieces e secured at their feet e', e<2> to the adjacent pages and formed with tongues or the like e<3> to engage and guide a slidable portion e<4> which is connected to the pages bv flexible cords or strips e<7> and is actuated by its abutment against a foldable piece e<5> with base pieces e<6> secured to the pages b. Auxiliary folders containing collapsable models may be secured to the pages of the book and provided with a line of perforations to facilitate their detachment.
