Abstract

Massage.-A massage apparatus comprises a hollow massage member d mounted to rotate on an axle a having at least one handle b and heating means c between which and the outer surface' of the member d a solid packing or lagging f of high thermal capacity is provided to store heat and transmit it slowly to the outer surface of the apparatus. The packing may be applied to the interior surface of the operative wall of the hollow member a, or the casing may be detachably and interchangeably secured to the packing, or the packing may be carried by the axle of the apparatus. If one handle only is used the opposite end of the rotating member is made hemispherical for massaging areas of small extent. The heating means may be an electrical resistance partially or completely buried in the material and the connections between the rotating portion and the axle and handle may be made by means of a rotating contact device carried by said portion. or the heating may be by exothermal chemical reactions, or cooling means may be used.
