Abstract

321,094. Furst, W. Dec. 12, 1928. Radiations, treating diseases with. - Ray emitters, e.g. X-ray emitters, are arranged for therapeutic depth-treatment, either one above and one below a R÷ntgen table supporting the patient, or one ray emitting tube may be used and is positioned alternately above, and below the table. In each case, the tube, or tubes, is adjustable about vertical and horizontal axes and is also adjustable vertically and horizontally on its supporting stand. As shown in Fig. 1, the tubes 11 are carried, above and below the patient 20 on the table 21, on brackets 6 which are vertically adjustable on the stand 5 by screws 7 rotated by a handwheel 8 through clutches 9. The brackets 6 are horizontally adjustable by a handwheel 10, and the tubes are each revoluble on a horizontal pivot 12 and a vertical pivot 13. Scales 14, 15 are provided for reading angular displacements about these pivots, and scales 16, 17 give horizontal and vertical readings. An adjustable pointer 18 indicates the zero mark and the scale 17 is adjustable by a hand wheel 19 to correspond therewith. The scales permit the tubes to be set symmetrically with respect to the patient. In the modification where one tube is used, the stand 5 is lower and the table has telescopic legs. For radiation from above, the table is set low and for radiation from below, the legs are expanded and the table is raised to allow the tube to pass beneath it. The scale readings allow the radiation to be effected symmetrically relatively to the patient. Instead of a vertically adjustable table, two tables of different height may be used.
