Abstract

320,456. Spooner, H. J. Aug. 16, 1928. Ventilators. -A ventilating and sand-excluding box for use in window openings or wall apertures of buildings is made of sound-absorbing or reflecting material and comprises a casing having an adjustable shutter of the hit-and-miss, pivoted flap, or like kind and baffles A, B, which may be straight or curved and perforated or plain and a louvered front if desired. The device may be placed above or below in a window opening, the sashes being overlapped for a portion of their depth, and may be placed out of the plane of the sashes to allow same to be raised &c. The box is preferably removable for cleaning. A projecting hood may be provided to keep out rain. The shutter S may be controlled by cords and weights. Specification 312,780, [Class 20 (iii). Doors &c.], is referred to in the second Provisional Specification.
