Abstract

320,138. Tilley, R. G. July 10, 1928. Tools.-A planing or like cutting tool of the kind comprising a number of plates or cutting elements adjustably mounted in a frame or on rods &c. so that they may assume two positions, in one of which the cutting edges are given the correct clearance while in the other the cutting edges all lie in a plane so that they may be ground, the cutting elements are mounted in spaced relationship on the supporting member or frame. Several constructions are described and in one form, for sharpening pencils or for other purposes, the blades 4, Fig. 10, are integrally or otherwise provided with pivots 4d engaging recesses in a pair of parallel rods 13 and pivots 4e engaging recesses in a pair of parallel rods 15 which are capable of being displaced longitudinally with respect to the rods 13 to enable the blades to assume their two positions Means such as a pin 16 provide for locking the blades in either position.
