Abstract
319,996. D÷ring, E. Dec. 5, 1928. Valve fittings in drains; inspection chambers; traps.-Means for preventing the passage of rats into house drains comprises two or more swing- ing flaps all mounted so as to be capable of swinging independently of one another about separate axes and also swinging together about a common axis, so that during normal discharge the flaps move one after the other about their own axes but during excessive discharge all swing together about the common axis, so as to give way simultaneously, all returning afterwards automatically to the normal position. The flaps are mounted in a casing c provided with a lid d and with projecting parts a, b for connection to the main and house drains. A weighted lever g is mounted on pivot pins e and connected to a grating h on which a flap k is pivotally mounted. Jointed to the flap k is a lever l connected to the lever g by a link ma,nd by a slotted link n guided by a pin o. A second flap q is pivoted on the lever l. A ventilating grating r is provided.
