Abstract
318,891. Du Pont de Nemours & Co., E. I., (Assignees of Jordan, H.). Sept. 11, 1928, [Convention date]. Secondary diazo dyes.-Regenerated cellulose material, e.g. viscose are dyed in level shades with disazo dyestuffs of the type; R1 # R2 # R3 in which R1 = a. naphthylamine monosulphonic acid, R2 = an aromatic monamine not containing a free hydroxyl and R3 = J acid or an N-substituted derivative thereof coupled alkaline. In an example rayon is dyed bordeaux with the dyestuff 1-naphthylamine-7-sulphonic acid # m-toluidine - J acid from a neutral soap/sodium sulphate bath. Common salt or double sulphonated castor oil ('' Monopol "), or Turkey red oil may also be used in the bath. A large number of suitable dyestuffs derived from the following components are tabulated :- first components, 2-naphthylamine-6-sulphonic acid, 1-naphthylamine-4-, 5-, and 7-sulphonic acids; middle components, aniline, 1-methoxy- or 1-ethoxy-2-amino-4-methylbenzene, 1-naphthylamine-6-(or 7 )-sulphonic acid, m-toluidine and 1-naphthylamine: end components, N-phenyl-, benzoyl- and acetyl-J acids.
