Abstract

318,713. Sinclair, A. July 20, 1928. Fitting appliances.-An appliance for stretching finished hats in the neighbourhood of the sweat-band comprises a frame divided into pairs of sections, a device for forcing apart one pair of sections, and means which consequentially on this movement, act to force apart the other sections and, also maintain the parts in correct relative position. The fore and aft sections A, A<1> are forced apart by a right-and-left-hand screw operated by a handle A<2>. Nuts engaging thisscrew are integral with cam members c' engaging grooves in side sections B, B<1>. The grooves are covered by plates b<1>, so that the cam members maintain the parts in correct relativeposition. A rubber band D surrounds the sections. For local stretching pads may be inserted inside this band.
