Abstract
318,158. Akt.-Ges. Brown, Boveri, et Cie, (Assignees of Oesterreichische Brown, Boveri-Werk Akt.-Ges.). Aug. 28, 1928, [Convention date]. Selective signalling, apparatus.-Indicators as used for switchboards comprise an opaque panel with clear parts representing bus-bars 1, disconnecting and oil switches 2, 3, rectifier and transformers 5, 6, &c., and illuminating lamps contained in standard size cases 7. The cases are arranged in horizontal grid members 8, 9 which are made to hold an even or an odd number of cases, so as to allow of cases in adjacent rows being staggered. The grids have interengaging ends and are secured to vertical supports 10 behind which are walls for carrying the leads to the lamps. Each case is formed so that the observer does not see the lamp 12, Fig. 6. The upper surface 19 is white and formed as an Archimedian spiral with its origin in the lamp, the lower convex side is a matt black and the side walls are metallically reflecting. The cases are tapered so that there is sufficient space between them at the rear to accommodate the bars 8 and supports 9 and yet the front edges meet so as to avoid non- illuminated parts of the panel. Any measuring instruments incorporated in the panel are made an integral multiple of the size of the cases.
