Press-button fasteners.-The stud member is in the form of a cup 211 having double walls 19, 22 providing a channel with a narrow part 24 leading to an enlarged part 23. The outer wall 19 is shaped to provide the stud externally with an enlarged head, a reduced neck portion, and an outwardly turned base flange 18 which bears against the fabric 17 to which the stud is secured by a ring 15 having upstanding prongs 16 (three described) which are passed through the fabric into the channel, the prongs being pressed home so that their ends are bent over or upset in the enlarged portion 23 of the channel. The wall 22 may be cylindrical as in Fig. 10, but is preferably outwardly flared as in Fig. 1, so that the prongs 16 are thereby spread outwardly and their ends upset inwardly, giving a more secure fastening. The socket member 1 is in the form of a cup with flanged mouth to retain a stud-engaging spring ring 3 and has a central hollow domeheaded portion 13 upstanding within the socket. The socket is attached to the fabric 8 by a member (shown separate, Fig. 3) with a pointed stem 10 which is forced through the fabric into the portion 13 and upset within the hollow dome, Fig. 11, which also shows the dies 12<a>, 12b, 13<a> by which the attachment is effected. As seen in Fig. 1, the stem 10 is integral with a head 9 which is enclosed between two plates 11, 12 secured together by Banging the edge of plate 12 over plate 11.
