Vibration-dampers. - A vibration-damper for attachment to a leaf spring of a vehicle is constructed so that displacement of the spring induces increased pressure between the leaves. Surrounding the spring 1 is a stirrup 2 whose arms have notches 3 for the reception of the trunnion 4 of the cross-bar. The latter has an eccentric middle part 5 which presses against the lower plate of the spring. On the end 6 of the crossbar is clamped a lever 7 pivoted at 8 to a connecting rod 9 adjustably pivoted to the chassis member 11. A set-screw 13 having a hardened point penetrates the upper leaf and prevents longitudinal movement of the apparatus, while permitting it to tilt slightly. The stirrup or part of the transmiting-mechanism may be formed as a spring, or a spring may be inserted into the transmitting-mechanism. Movement of the spring in either direction from normal causes the cross-bar to rotate and causes the eccentric part to bear with gradually increasing pressure on the leaves of the spring.
