Pendulum-weight apparatus ; casings.-Relates to automatic or semi-automatic weighing scales of the type in which one or more pans rest on weighing mechanism contained in a box-like base casing which encloses and extends over the weighing mechanism, and in which a separate fan-shaped, or triangular-shaped, indicator, casing contains an indicator pointer and load-counterbalancing device. According to the invention, the fan-shaped or triangular-shaped indicator casing is mounted on one or more uprights so constituted and arranged that a clear view is afforded of the weigh pan or pans from the opposite sides of the scale at which the indicator can be read, and the pan or pans is or are arranged close up against the upright or uprights to provide a compact construction of scale. As applied to the semi-automatic scale shown in Fig. 1, the indicating mechanism is contained in a triangular casing 7 supported upon the base housing 2 by means of hollow uprights 5, 6. The pendulous resistant 19 is coupled to the weighing mechanism within the base by a connecting member 20 passing through the upright 6. Figs. 4 and 7 show arrangements of automatic machine wherein -the indicator casing is supported by two uprights and one upright respectively. The indicator casing, shown in Fig. 7 may be turnably mounted at the point 46 or 47. In the form shown in Fig. 6, the weights pan 3 is situated between the uprights, which may be located midway between the sides of the base or nearer to one side than the other.
