Counter-scales and the like; pendulum-weight apparatus; computing-apparatus.-In a weighing- scale of the kind having an indicator dial extending transversely to a double-armed scale lever which carries the commodity receiver on one arm and has the other arm connected to a pendulum, the latter arm also carries a supplementary weight receiver located externally of the scale lever casing, this weight receiver lying beside the indicator mechanism in such a manner that both the latter parts, seen from the weigher's position, lie behind the commodity receiver. A U-shaped lever 14, fulcrumed on pivots 13, supports at one end a spider 16 carrying a commodity receiver 18 and steadied at the lower end by links 20. A loading receptacle covered by a plate 22 is provided in the spider. At its other end, the lever 14 carries a second spider 29 steadied by a link 33 and supporting, on a post 30, a weights pan 31, Fig. 1. An extension 35 of the lever is connected by a flexible ribbon 37 to a pendulum 38 mounted on self-aligning bearings and carrying an indicating hand 40 cooperating with a fan-shaped computing chart. Owing to the weight of the spider 29 the pendulum is normally maintained in a raised position and falls when a commodity is placed on the goods platform. The weighing capacity of the machine is increased by placing loose weights on the pan 31. Casings.-The platform lever mechanism is enclosed by end and side plates secured together upon a dished base plate 1 and covered by plates 12, 23. A cabinet 24 surmounted by a fanshaped housing 25 is carried by the plate 23.
