Computing-apparatus. - In a pricecomputing weighing-scale of the kind described in Specifications 217,324 and 219,355 wherein the weighing capacity of a pendulum mechanism is augmented by loose weights placed on the weights pan, an additional series of price values corresponding to the loose weights is disposed upon a rotatable drum integral with, identical with, or in positive connection with the primary drum and capable of being manually set in agreement with the price per pound of the commodity being weighed. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the automaticallyoperated pointer 9 indicates in known manner against a graduated weight chart 5 and against a manuallyoperated cost drum 6 which may be rotated by a knob 7 so as to display a row 10 of cost values at any desired price per pound. Connected to the drum 6 by gear wheels 13, 14 is an additional cost drum 15 which at each adjustment presents to the salesman a row 17 of cost value figures which are multiples of the price per pound displayed upon the upper drum. The value to be selected from the lower drum depends on the loose weights placed on the weights pan and is read off by the aid of a weight strip 16 fixed to the scale housing. The total value of the commodity is ascertained by adding together the readings taken from the two drums. In a modification, the lower drum is dispensed with, and the rows 17 of value indications corresponding to the loose weights are placed upon the upper drum so as to be displayed at the same time as the corresponding rows 10. In a further modification, Fig. 4, the spindle of the primary drum is extended and carries at the ends two additional drums 27 bearing the multiple cost values for use with the loose weights.
