Abstract

315,742. Fruergaard, J. S. J. April 17, 1928. Disinfecting - chambers; disinfectant liquids and d solids, delivering. - Seeds, and a finely ground substance having fungicidal or disinfecting properties, are fed into a mixing drum 1 from a hopper 7. The drum is secured to a rotating shaft 3 by spiders 4 and is divided by a partition 8 into two compartments. The seeds after being thoroughly mixed with the disinfecting material in the first compartment pass through an opening 9 in the partition into the second compartment into which a sticky liquid or steam is sprayed through a nozzle 10 to lay the dust. The treated material is discharged through an outlet 11. The partition 8 may be secured to and rotate with the drum or it may be loosely fitted so that the position of the opening 9 may be adjusted to give the desired mixing to the material. In a modification the device may comprise outer and inner drums, mixing being accomplished in the outer drum and the material then passing through holes in the shell of the inner drum for the spray treatment.
