Endless chain and like carriers, apparatus with; actuating. - An advertising device comprises a casing 15 having a glazed opening 37 behind which is displayed an endless chain of panels 9. The panels are held in frames 8 which have pins 11 projecting from their sides away from the corners, pins on adjacent frames being coupled by links 10. The pins 11 extend sufficiently far to engage notches 6<a>, 7<a> in discs 6, 7 fixed at the ends of shafts 4, 5 and forming carrying drums. The actuation of the chain is effected from a handle 27 of a note changing or other mechanism through a link 26, crank 24, and link 22 pivoted to a reciprocating spring controlled rod 20. To a point 19 of the rod 20 is pivoted a link 18 connected to a belt crank 14 carrying a pawl 13 provided with an arm 16 connected to the casing 15 by a spring 17. The pawl 13 engages studs 12 on the discs 6, and pulls the drums round the required distance at each depression of the handle 27, the springs 17, 21 restoring the pawl 13 and handle 27 to their original positions when freed. The actuating mechanism is duplicated on the other side of the apparatus. A registering device for bringing the panels 9 exactly into position consists of studs 36 on one of the discs 7 on which bear pivoted bars normally drawn parallel by a spring. Lamps 30, which may be faced by a diffusing screen 31, illuminate the displayed panel 9.
