In a metal casing f, which may be earthed at f<1>, is housed a high-frequency transformer a, b with the secondary terminals i connected to electrodes h. The highfrequency primary is supplied from a source of alternating current from a low-frequency hightension transformer d. In order to avoid shock in case of a breakdown of the high-tension transformer, at least one of the electrodes h is connected to the casing k directly, through a highfrequency choke m, or through a protective sparkgap or the like.
