Trawling-gear.-The upper sheet of a trawl net is lifted by a sheet of canvas secured at its front edge along or adjacent to the head-rope of the net, and so arranged that the angle between the net and the canvas automatically varies with the speed. The canvas may be stretched on a triangular frame or it may be without a frame; in both cases its free apex may be weighted as indicated in Fig. 4, which shows a frame ABD with cross-members under which the canvas is held. Fig. 1 shows a frame comprising a lower triangle ABD with cross-members EFG on which canvas is supported, as in Fig. 4, and an upper triangle, which may be filled with netting, and which bears against the upper sheet of the trawl net. The piece C, D may be adjustable to vary the angle a.
