Pistons.-In a piston in which the walls c<2> carrying the gudgeon-pin bosses k are isolated from the bearing portions d of the skirt by axial slots a<2>, the walls c<2> are formed cvlindrical or approximately spherical, as shown, in order that expansion of the piston may cause approach of the gudgeon-pin bosses without causing distortion of the skirt. When the walls c<2> are spherical the slots a<2> are curved, as shown. The edges g of the slots are bevelled.
