Abstract
311,686. Standard Telephones & Cables, Ltd., and Snell, M. S. Feb. 14, 1928. Automatic exchange selectors. - Relates to single motion rotary switches and consists in (1) means for adjusting the tension springs of the armature of the magnets, (2) a method of mounting, and adjustable stops for, the driving pawl, (3) adjustable stops for the wiper shaft, and (4) means for adjusting the return spring. The tension springs E, F are adjustable along notches on the tails E<1>, F<1> of the armatures of the magnets 3, 4. The pawl H of the armature 5 of the driving magnet is mounted on a shouldered bolt H<1>, Fig. 4, of stainless steel, the head of the bolt being free in one side of the forked end of the armature so that the bearing space of the pawl is determined by the shouldered bolt and not by the width of the fork. The stops B, C for the pawl are eccentrically mounted as shown in Fig. 5, the seatings for the stops being of conical form. In the normal position, an arm L on the wiper shaft engages an eccentric D which may be adjusted not only to centre the wiper but to provide two normal positions, one with the wiper on the first terminals and the other with the wipers out of the bank. An adjustable stop G prevents the wiper being stepped forwardly off the bank. The wiper pivot M, Fig. 2, is of stanless steel and is screwed at one end into the switch base, the spring box A being mounted at its free end. The box is adjustable around the pivot M and is secured thereto by screws D. 'The stop arm L is carried in a slot in the ratchet wheel K.
