Springs, arrangement of.-The vehicle suspension is of the type in which a road wheel is mounted on an axle carried by an arm 6 pivoted to the frame 5 so as to swing in a vertical plane, and the coacting faces of the arm 6 and frame 5 are provided with metal dogs 11, 12 which allow limited pivotal movement against the action of resilient blocks 14 of rubber &c. interposed between adjacent pairs of dogs. According to the invention, the blocks 14 are larger than the spaces between the dogs so that they are subjected to an initial compression when in position, and a frictional damping-device is interposed between the arm and its pivot. The dogs 11 are carried by a drum 2 secured to the frame 5, and the dogs 12 are formed on the pivot shaft 10 of the wheelcarrying arm 6. If the clearance space between the dogs is insufficient to provide for blocks 14 of adequate size, recesses are provided in one or both of the adjacent faces of the dogs to receive the blocks. The frictional damping-device comprises a friction ring 19 located between flanges 17, 18 and acted upon by a compression spring 21 interposed between the pivot bearing boss 9 and an adjustable nut or collar 23.
