310,282. Leabank Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Kent, F. W. Dec. 20, 1928. Adjustments.-A vertical adjustment for central-pillar tables, seats, and other furniture consists of an inner stem A movable relatively to an outer stem B and locked in it by wedge devices operated by a pedal K. The part A has at its lower end two opposed cups C, F connected by a rivet F so as to form a thrust bearing enabling the part A to rotate on the tube D, which is a sliding fit in a split tube G. On the tube are wedge-like parts H cooperating with inclines J on the stem B. When it is desired to adjust the height of the seat &c., the pedal is raised, releasing the parts H, J; the parts A, D having been lifted, they are secured by pressing down the pedal; the re-engagement of the parts H, J causes the split end of the tube G to grip the tube D.
