Abstract
309,480. Hesser Maschinenfabrik- Akt.-Ges., F. April 11, 1939, [Convention date]. Weighing - apparatus fitted to packeting- machines.-In a packeting machine wherein the packages are conveyed stepwise and in succession to various stations for filling, weighing, closing and other treatment two roughly filled packages are fed simultaneously forward by the distance of two stations or by two feed steps, underneath two weighing devices, remain there during the next step of the feeding mechanism, are then likewise simultaneously fed by the distance of two stations, and are hereafter in known manner individually and stepwise conveyed to the further stations of the filling and closing machine. By the use of two weighing devices, ample time is given for the weighing operations without interfering with the high speed of the closing and other devices. The empty packages a pass successively from a forming machine to a member 1 which swings them into a vertical position beneath a measuring .device D at the station I where they receive the bulk of their charge in known manner. The packages are conveyed intermittently, by cam mechanism driven from a shaft 7, to an idle station II, two weighing stations III, IV and to other stations V, VI, &c. for closing. gumming, labelling, &c. The package-feeding mechanism is of the usual form in connection with the stations V, VI, &c. but operates as described below at the preceding stations. The packages are pushed forward by arms or grippers 2 - - 5 which, under the control of the cam shaft 7, receive reciprocatory movements in the line of packages and swinging movments into and out of engagement with the packages. Assuming the grippers to have moved to the right by the distance of two stations in order to feed two weighed packages simultaneously from the stations III, IV to the stations V, VI and to convey two roughly filled packages from the stations I, II to the stations III, IV, the grippers are then swung away from the packages and moved back to their left-hand positions, an empty package being at the same time brought to the station I and roughly filled. The gripper 2 alone is now swung forward to operative position and a feed step to the right is again made by all the grippers thus bringing the roughly filled packet to the idle station II without however disturbing the packages at the weighing stations III, IV. The grippers are now returned to the left-hand position and are all swung forward into operative position and are then moved two steps to the right and the cycle of operations is repeated.
