Abstract

309,374. Clark, A. T., and Shepherd, F. W. H. June 12, 1928. Divided on 303,210. Sorting on picking or sorting tables and the like.-A device for facilitating the hand-sorting of potatoes &c. comprises a conveyer with means for turning the articles to be sorted over so as to expose different sides for inspection. The apparatus described comprises two conveyer bands 4, 24, Fig. 1, overlapping as shown to form a tumbling bank where one conveyer delivers to the other. The apparatus is mounted on a screening device from which it receives its charge by a shoot 81. The conveyer 4 is. driven from a power shaft 30 by worm and screw gearing 31 and chain gearing 19, and drives the upper conveyer 24 by chain gearing 22. The lower end of the conveyer 4 is supported in the screening frame and its free end bv ties 27. Struts 29 support the upper conveyer with its end over a collecting sack 28.
