Elastic stockings.-The lower end 3, Fig. 1, of the leg part of the stocking is shaped to provide a recess 4 at the front to the edges of which the upper straight edge 2a of the foot part 2 is afterwards joined, as shown in Fig. 2, in such manner that the foot part extends downwardly at an angle and a heel aperture 5 is provided. The foot and leg parts are formed of circular fabric produced on a knitting machine. The shaping of the leg part may be produced automatically on the machine or may be produced by cutting; in the latter case the cut edge 4<b> is turned over and secured by stitching as shown at 4<c>.
