309,225. Jensen, C. A., (Reed Roller Bit Co.). Jan. 7, 1928. Borehole apparatus.-A well-drilling tool comprises a head 1 provided at its lower end with a recess with inclined walls 2 from each of which projects a stud 3 carrying a bushing 5 held against rotation by a dowel 6 and supporting a frustoconical rolling cutter 4 held in place by a nut 10; a bridge piece 12 engages the cover portions 5<a> of the bushings 5 to hold the latter in place and is itself held in place by a bearing pin 13 supported in the depending sides 14 of the head and fixed by tapered pins 15. The bridge piece is placed to one side of the axis of the head. Washers 18, held by dowels 18a, are provided at the ends of the bearing pin 13 which carries loose bushings 19, 19<a >on which inner cylindrical cutters 17, 17b, 17<c>, and outer frusta-conical cutters 17<a>, 17d are independently rotatable. The diameters of the outer sides of the cutters 17<a>, 17d are approximately equal to the diameters of the inner faces of the cutters 4. Flushing fluid is supplied through parts 20, some of the fluid passing through a pipe 23 into the bridge piece 12 which has a downwardly-open channel 21. Other ports may supply fluid to the bottom and outer edge of the hole.
