Abstract

308,819. International General Electric Co., Inc., (Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.). March 31, 1928, [Convention date]. Compound forms.-In making composite metals from metals which do not alloy with each other, granular pieces or powder of the less fusible metal are pressed into a porous and shaped article and the more readily fusible metal is melted and fills the pores in the article. The metals may be iron or steel and copper. After shaping the porous particles of iron by pressure, the copper is laid thereon and melted in a reducing atmosphere. The shaped article may be sintered prior to applying the copper. The iron particles may be mixed with a temporary binding medium which volatilizes at the melting temperature of the copper. Specification 245,437, [Class 12 (i), Bearings &c.], is referred to. Bearings.-The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the more fusible metal may be lead. It is also stated that the product may be used for bearing metal. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
