Abstract

308,111. Davey, Paxman, & Co., Ltd., and Barnes, C. May 8, 1928. Stop-gear.-In apparatus of the kind wherein a weighted, pivoted lever actuated by an eccentric or cam and operative at excessive speeds to move a catch lever to release a weighted lever to stop the engine, such as described in Specification 313,648, the spring-controlled weighted lever 1 is pivoted at 2 on a cam operated rocking-lever 3 and at abnormal speed its end 8 hits the lower end of the trip lever 10 and releases the weight 11. The lever 10 may be released by a handle 14 or a cord 15. In a modification the weighted lever is reciprocated, a roller thereon engaging an inclined or curved path which throws it up at abnormal speeds to engage the lever 10. In a further modification, the weighted lever is formed as a spring-held bell crank carried by an eccentric operated slide.
