Fluid - friction vibration - dampers. - Motorvehicle dashpots comprise a hollow plunger 6 working in a cylinder 5 surrounded by an oiljacket 5<1>, the end of the plunger 6 being fitted with a one-way valve 6<1> which allows free return movement of the plunger towards the left bellcrank lever under the influence of a spring 6<2>, while oil is displaced during the outward or forcing movement of the plunger through a hole 5<00> fitted with a screw-adjusted regulating hollow needle valve 5<2>. Holes 5<0> and 6<00> in the cylinder and plunger respectively facilitate the flow of oil from the cylinder to the interior of the plunger until the holes 6<00> are covered by the plunger when the resistance to movement is increased. Oil may be supplied, when necessary, through a pipe connected to the hollow needle valve. The dashpots may be applied to vehicles of the kind in which each road-wheel is independently supported on a bell-crank lever 1 resiliently connected at its end 10 with a tubular chassis' member 4 by means of a helical spring 2. Co-operating hemispherical surfaces 7, 8<a> are formed on the cylinder 5 and on a fixed abutment 8 in the member 4 so as to permit the cylinder to follow the oscillatory movements of the vertical arm of the bellcrank lever.
