Abstract
307,536. Rose, S. A. M. Dec. 9, 1927. Light radiations, control of apparatus by.-A selenium or other light-sensitive cell a, which is exposed to a beam of light, projected from a lamp c, and passing across a furnace flue, is utilized to control the air supply to a furnace in accordance with the density of the smoke in the flue. The cell acts through polarised and non-polarised relays f, g and solenoids h to operate one or more air supply dampers j, the movements of which are retarded by a dashpot l or other like device. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), a damper is operated through a train of reducing-gearing from an electric motor, which is controlled by a switch actuated by relays.
