Abstract
336,609. Watts & Son, Ltd., E. R., and Weston, S. July 13, 1929. Levels.-The movement of a spirit-level bubble or the image thereof is caused to affect light-sensitive apparatus. In Fig. 1 light from a source 1 is condensed by a lens 11 and passes through the bubble 3 on to a light-sensitive cell 5. In another form the cell is arranged to receive light reflected by the bubble. In Fig. 2 light passes through the bubble 3 and through an optical system 4 so that a bubble image 30 is projected on to a pair of light-sensitive cells 5 6. The cells may be included in an amplifying circuit including a relay operated by differential illumination of the cells, the relay being arranged to control the opening or closing of circuits operating any desired apparatus, such for instance as means for firing a gun when a particular inclination is reached.
