Anti-dazzle screens for drivers. - An anti-dazzle device comprises strips adapted to be spread out in spaced relationship in front of the driver in the manner of an open fan with the greatest width of the fat at the top or at the bottom. The strips are preferably opaque and of uniform or tapering width, and are preferably mounted so as to be collapsed within a box. In one form, metal &c. strips 13, Fig. 2, are spaced apart and mounted on a spindle 14 within a box adjustably or permanently secured to the dashboard, or to the windscreen frame,. and are connected by links 15, 16, or by leather, woven metal, or other flexible material, stops 17, 19, Fig. 4, limiting the movement of the links 15, 16. The movement of the strips is limited by links 22, 23 connected to the outermost strip and by links 26, 25 connected to the innermost strip, or by a projection on the innermost strip engaging the bottom of the box, or a pin on the box. The box has a lid 6 which flies open when a catch is released. Springs may be employed for moving the strips to their collapsed or extended positions. An operating-knob mounted on a clip on the outermost strip, or on an extension of the strip, may be used for locking the strips 13 in the box and for releasing the links 22, 23 and for securing the strips in intermediate positions. In a modification, tapering strips are mounted on a pin vertically slidable in slots in the sides of the box so that the strips are automatically collapsed by contact with the edges of the box when the pin is slid downwardly flexible members connecting the end strips to the sides of the box and spreading the strips when the pin is moved upwardly. The slot may be provided with notches for the reception of the pin in the extreme positions.
