Abstract

307,013. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., (Assignees of Cl.ifford, A. M.). March 1, 1928, [Convention date]. Amino - alcohols having the formula H R-N-C6C4CH2OH in which R is a hydrocarbon residue are used as anti-agers for rubber. Substances mentioned are phenylaminobenzyl, p-alpha-and-#-naphthylaminobenzyl alcohols. The latter is prepared by treating an alcoholic solution of phenyl-alpha-or-#-naphthylamine with hydrochloric acid and then with formaldehyde. The precipitate produced is washed, redissolved in alcohol, and re-precipitated by adding ammonia.
