Adjusting and connecting bogies and radial axles for steering; steering-gear. - An agricultural or like tractor is provided with axles b each rotatable when desired in a horizontal plane about a universal joint or pivot d at or near one end, so that when the tractor is at the end of a furrow, on the wheels being driven the axles are first swivelled about the points d into parallel positions and the tractor then moves in an inclined direction to a parallel position. On the direction of rotation of the wheels being reversed the axles are returned to their normal transverse positions and are locked. The free ends of the axles rotate in bearings g, Fig. 6, which can slide in guides h but are normally held in position in the guides by stops or locking pins o. The axles are moved in opposite directions for normal steering by means of a steering hand-wheel i which rotates a shaft i<1> having right- and left-handed screw-threads engaging corresponding threads in the guides h. In a modification the guides h are connected to two bell-crank levers which are simultaneously operated by a screwed shaft. The axles are driven from an electric or other motor e<1> through the universal joints d. A castor wheel k may be provided at the side of the tractor. A number of wheels may be mounted on each axle b, one being driven directly from the motor and the others connected to it by a dog clutch allowing some relative rotary motion.
