Magazines for type-bar-making machines.-In machines having a magazine locking-device for preventing relative movement of the magazine and the escapement bank until a matrix locking- bar is in operative position, as described in Specification 260,459, the locking-bar is inserted into the magazine at the side adjacent to the magazine locking-device, in order to avoid interference with the manipulation of the locking-bar by the auxiliary magazines. The magazine locking-device is arranged at the left side of the magazine, as heretofore, and consists of a spring- pressed latch E normally resting in the path of a finger F' on a rock-shaft F, which is operated by means of arms F<3>, and carries a cam-plate F<2>, adapted to raise the magazine away from the escapements. The matrix locking-bar G is inserted from the left side, or the side remote from the auxiliary magazines, and has at one end an offset nose portion G', adapted to engage the latch E and rock it out of the path of the finger F', so that the magazine may be raised. The latch is provided with a bevelled corner or cam, so that it is pushed away by the nose G' of the locking-bar, when the magazine is lowered.
