Abstract

305,892. Augustin, J. P. June 19, 1928 Hearses.-A hand-propelled hearse is so constructed and arranged as to give the impression that the coffin is being borne by the men propelling the hearse. The hearse comprises a platform 10 supported by four small wheels, the front pair 11 of which are mounted on an axle 12 which can be rotated in a horizontal plane for steering purposes by levers 17 having upstanding arms 19 and counterweights 18. The platform 10 is provided with an ornamental. flange 15 and a valance 16 adapted to conceal in part the wheels 11, 13. Rigid arms 26 are provided at the sides and, at the rear, arms 23 are mounted adapted to serve both for propelling and for actuating brake shoes 22.
