Moulding indiarubber.-In a process for making inflatable rubber articles, two or more flat sheets of raw rubber are pressed together to form a joint, Fig. 4, the depth of which is at least equal to the combined thickness of the sheets, the sheets being prevented from adhering except at the joints by the interpolation of anti-adhesive media such as paper or metal in the form of a templet, or a liquid or a powder, the finished article being vulcanized hot without a mould. In the construction of a mattress, paper templets 5, Fig. 7, are laid oh a sticky rubber sheet 3, rubber tubes 9, 10 are arranged to form air passages, and another sticky sheet is laid over the whole and united by pressure. In the construction of a toy animal figure, Fig. 9, two pieces of rubber are joined together to form one inset piece 13, a metal templet 14 keeping them separated excepting at the joint X. Another inset piece 12 is similarly prepared. One outside sheet is prepared by placing over it a stencil shaped to the inside of the figure and applying an anti-adhesive medium. The inset sheets are then pressed on and form the outer joint VII. The stencil and anti-adhesive medium are then again applied and finally the other outside sheet is pressed on. The templets may be formed with cutting edges, and various parts may be united by bracing strips 30, 62, which may divide the figure into compartments.
