Abstract

304,364. Johnston, N. F. Oct. 20, 1927. Garages.-A garage is divided into two rows of multi-storey rectangular stalls erected on each side of a central corridor along which moves a traversing hoist fitted with a rotary turntable. The building is formed of uprights A connected by beams B and covered by wall sheets G. The floors F are supported by bars C, D, E, the inner parts of the floors projecting beyond the corridor uprights and being supported by brackets H. The traversing carriage 5 runs on sunken rails in the corridor 3 and is provided with inclined runways 7, and carries a hoist framework 6. The hoist platform 8 is provided with a turntable 9 so that the cars which enter the platform 8 from the corridor can be turned at right-angles in order that they may be run off into any compartment with which the platform is caused to align. In its lowest position, the hoist platform rests on the ground.
