Abstract

304,313. Ephraim, A. F. Jan. 20, 1928, [Convention date]. Horns, arranging and supporting.-The sound from loud speakers, gramophones or the like is diffused within a room. by means of a horn having three surfaces terminating in edges arranged at or near two walls and the ceiling or floor, each edge being substantially parallel to, or in the plane of, the corresponding wall, ceiling or floor. The horn a of the loud speaker shown in Fig. 4 has flattened surfaces a<1> at the back to fit into a corner and a.n inclined or arched surface a<2> at the top reaching to the, ceiling. The horn may be constructed of layers of thick paper or thin card which are not stuck together. Fig. 8 shows a horn modified for a room having a cornice. Inclined facets a<4> are provided at the sides of the arched part a<2> to fit against the cornice, and a tongue a<5> is provided at the front. In concert rooms and like auditoriums one end of the room may be constituted by a largei funnel- Lke structure j<2>, Fig. 1, having the loud speaker a at the apex. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also comprises the more simple construction shown in Fig. 12 (Cancelled), applied to a gramophone. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
