Kettles; heating-surfaces, increasing; jackets.- Relates to kettles or water-heaters of the kind formed with a vertical flue within which a second vessel can be supported for heating. In the form of the invention shown in Fig. 1, the oval-shaped water-containing vessel a is pierced by a flue adapted to contain a vessel c, the top plate of the flue having a series of concentric annular rings b to enable vessels of different sizes to be accommodated. The water-heater is surrounded by a jacket d, e, f, through which the flue gases pass emerging at openings h in the outer wall. The jacket also serves to catch, and cause re-evaporation of, condensed water. It is detachably secured by clamping-nipples p to the water container. The container has a filling opening with cover g, a spout t, and a bail handle (not shown). Fig. 3 shows a modified construction in which the jacket d, e, is not complete but has an intermediate wall o around which the gases pass to emerge at openings formed below the edge of the cover plate n. Vertical or horizontal ribs or " heating strips " such as u, Fig. 6, may be arranged in the flue passages of the constructions, and the walls of the parts may be corrugated vertically or horizontally.
