303,853. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Jan. 11, 1928, [Convention date]. Testing and measuring viscosity of liquids. -Relates to viscosimeters in which the resistance to a body d rotating in a liquid is measured and consists in mounting the body d in an overhung spindle by means of a needle point and cup bearing s, h, the lateral pull of a thread by which the body is rotated being taken up by the needle point. In a modification the needle point is arranged at the middle point of the roller to which the pull of the thread is transmitted. All parts affecting the friction of the apparatus are made from polished stainless steel. In the second form the spindle is provided with a disc which is drawn upwards towards a vacuum chamber, in a similar manner to the drum of Fig. 1, so that the needle is correctly seated in the bearing.
