Abstract

303,798. Cornelius, C. E. Jan. 9, 1928, [Convention date]. Electrode furnaces. -In a furnace for use in the production of glass, cement, phosphates and the like the electrodes B, which may be made of iron, are wholly submerged and spaced from all the walls so as to be completely surrounded bv the charge. Five electrodes may be arranged on each side of the furnace. The furnace bottom is cooled by water or air passed through tubes H, K. Specification 249,554 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) stated that the mass of the electrodes should exceed the mass of a third of the charge. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
