Abstract

303,676. Bancroft, E. N. Feb. 17, 1928. No Patent granted (Sealing fec not paid). Endless-track vehicles.-An endless track comprises a number of similar members A each provided with a recess B at one end and a corresponding projection C at the other end, adjacent members being hinged together by a. pin, bolt, or rivet 7 arranged at right-angles to the tread surface 2 and passing freely through the projection and being secured in the top and bottom walls of the recess. The hole 9 through which the pin 7 passes is so shaped as to allow relative movement of the members in a plane passing through the longitudinal axes of the members, this movement being limited in one direction by faces 3, 4 and in the other direction by faces 18. Surfaces 11, 12 on the projection C are so curved that they remain always in contact with the corresponding faces of the recess. A clearance space D is provided between the side faces of the recess and the projection so as to allow limited lateral movement of the members. Grooves 16 may be provided in the walls of the recess to permit the exit of dirt, mud, &c. that may have entered.
