303.487. International De Lavaud Manufacturing Corporation, Ltd. Jan. 6, 1928, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Physical or molecular structure, altering by mechanical treatment.-The surfaces of smooth finished articles of steel are hardened, with only microscopic roughening by subjecting them to the impact of a number of hard metal balls of small diameter. A mould C, to be used for casting pipes centrifugally, is rotated on roller supports A<1> by a catch-plate driver B<3> and a collar D, with projecting lugs, fixed on the mould. Balls are projected on the inner surface of the mould by a sand blast machine E through a pipe G' which is moved axially by the operator. The force of impact and supply of balls can be regulated yvalves F<1>, F<2>.
