Abstract

301,765. Simon, Ltd., H., and Denham, H. J. Sept. 1, 1927. Pneumatic separating. -Apparatus for purifying cereal products from dust and light particles comprises a rotating disc c, Figs. 1 and 2, having vanes d, e at opposite sides and enclosed in a casing f. The stock is fed from the hopper a to the centre of the disc and is thrown outwards by centrifugal action, while, a current of air entering at b<1> passes outwardly over one side of the disc and inwardly over the other to the discharge openings h carrying the lighter materials with it. The purified products are discharged through one or more openings g in the casing and the spout g<2>. An adjustable plate i controls the strength of the air current and a gate j on one or more of the openings g is provided for emptying the machine. The flow of air may be caused by a separate apparatus, and the dust laden air may be cleaned and re-circulated in the apparatus by dust removing apparatus similar to the apparatus shown arranged so that all the solid matter' is extracted and deposited in a filter. Several machines may be used in series.
