Abstract

301,603. Wenham, G. H., and Beaton & Son, Ltd., G. Oct. 17, 1927. H o o d s . -In hoods of the kind in which the hoop sticks are provided with shoes or rollers adapted to run in or on tubular cant rails the top of the cant rail having a longitudinal opening through which passes the extremity of a bracket on each travelling h o o p stick carrying one or more rollers which can travel inside the cant rail the bracket is arranged to travel in a horizontal position when the hood is being extended and to be erected when in its final position the bracket being provided with two spurs or projections, one of which carries a roller or bowl intended to run on the flat top of the cant rail and the other carries a screw &c. by which it can be tightened or locked in position. As shown the hoop sticks B are provided with brackets F which pass into the cant rail A and are provided with rollers f<2>. The brackets each carry two spurs, one G having an antifriction roller g<1> to run on the top of the cant rail when the hoop stick is turned down for travelling along the cant rail and the other H having a forked end for engaging studs h<1> with wing nuts h<2> to position the hoop stick and hold it in its erect position when the hood is extended. The rear hoop stick D is adjustable by means of a nut d<1> and right and left hand threads whereby the cover C may be tightened or may be loosed to allow the hoop sticks to be turned down and travel along the cast rails. A pivoted guide bar E is provided having a slotted end pivoted on a stud J and a pin K adapted to engage in a notch M to guide the front of the hood when being erected or lowered. After the hood is lowered the guide bars E are turned down over the hoop sticks.
