Abstract
301,032. Massin, M. Nov. 23, 1927, [Convention date]. Apparatus for operating on surface of hides or skins; treatment preliminary to tanning.-Skins of animals are separated from the flesh and skins are depilated by the use of compressed gas which acts between the skin and the flesh or the skin and the hair. The process is carried out by means of a tool having a hollow knife-like blade 1 with a blunt edge in which are perforations 3 through which compressed gas issues. The handle 2 of the tool is connected to a source of gas under pressure and is fitted with a sliding spring-stressed valve 9 controlled by a lever 8. The blade may have a part of its edge sharpened.
