Delivery of articles stored in piles. -The bottom article of a pile 3, Fig. 5, in a magazine 4 is delivered by a push-bar 10 carried by a plunger 8 which is provided with an operating knob 9. The plunger, normally locked in its inner position, is, after it is freed by prepayment, first pulled out to allow the bottom article to drop to a shelf 5. and then pushed in to push the article to a delivery shoot 27 extending beneath the magazine. The plunger 8 may be connected by side plates 35 with an end plate 36, so that, when the plunger is pulled out, the plate 36 covers the gap at the back of the magazine and prevents fraudulent abstraction of articles through the shoot 27. The plate 36 has a sloping portion 37 which forms part of the shoot 27. Coin action, with stationary coin forming abutments.-A coin inserted through a shoot 19, Fig. 2, moves aside a weighted pawl 31 and rests on a shoulder 33 formed on the arm 18 of a bellcrank 17, 18. The pawl 31 returning prevents the coin from being moved upwards. The lever 17, 18 is pivoted on a pin 14 extending laterally from a side plate 13 carried by the bar 10, and the nose 21 of the arm 17 engages a rack 22 to lock the plunger 8 in its inner position. When the plunger is pulled out, the arm 18 strikes the coin and the lever 17, 18 is turned against the action of a spring 25 until a lateral pin 23 engages an upper rack 24, which ensures a full outward stroke of the plunger.
